A happy one-month to the site!

Well, it has been one month since this site came into existence. It has been a pretty exciting month. There have been several people frequently viewing the blogs and commenting. It has been very exciting and flattering to see that people are taking an interest in these and going as far as to post some in-depth comments. As I have stated elsewhere, writing these helps me a lot and I hope that it can help the people at the same time.

A big ‘Thank You’ goes out to everyone who has been reading on here. I love getting the feedback in the comments section – no matter if it is negative or positive. I don’t want this to be some place where I randomly blab on and on my thoughts without anybody to say you are wrong. Specifically, a lot of poker blogs go along the lines of:

So, I had a good night tonight. I played 2k hands against the donks and cleaned up pretty good. I have AA a couple times and the rejects called my preflop AI. I also hit a set on the flop with 33. Here is that hand <insert hand history here>. I hope to get in 100k hands this month and that way I will be able to take my trip to Vegas in December.

I am already asleep. :)

The second that my blog starts to resemble that is the second I stop blogging.

In site news, I plan to get to work on getting a host for this site in the near future. Once this happens I will be doing some work on the layout of the site to make a more personalized look. Also, at that point in time the URL will change – so keep your eyes peeled.

As always, spread the word to your friends who may find this site interesting.

Happy 1-month to the site :) And thanks for not posting any collections of bad beats!

I wouldn’t mind to hear something about your own game, although as you said beats & brags are a bit pointless. However if you’d say something like what kind of aha-moments you have had recently in poker, and where you feel your game is improving/changing I’d be interested. I guess the unexploitable-posts might relate to some of your aha-moments though and I enjoyed them very much. In my own modest game I think the largest change in the last month is that I raise more to isolate bad players who limped before me, and I often get the button too this way. Has worked like a charm so far :) Its just something I didn’t really do intentionally before. From your posts at another place I take it that stack-to-pot ratio is something you have been paying a lot of attention too lately?

Bot on tilt,

Now that you mention it I actually have a couple “ah-ha moments” that are worth posting. I will do some braining-storming to see if I can come up with some stuff.

To be perfectly honest, a lot of times my blogs are “ah-ha moments” that I have had in the past. The flaw about being overly aggressive was certainly one of those moments for m, for example. I will see what I can come up with.

For whatever it’s worth, I think one of the biggest “ah-ha moments” is your “reverse ah-ha moment”. What I really mean by this is every time we learn a new concept we tend to over-apply it shortly after learning it. If you take your example, sooner or later you MAY end up raising the wrong limpers with mediocre hands a bit too often. The next thing you know you are trying to bluff a calling station on the turn with only a gutshot to back you up. jOnce we realize we are doing this we tend to have the best of both worlds because we understand the concept from every angle.
